Successful interior design is more than just drool worthy pictures. Yes, we all dream of having homes so beautiful they could grace the pages of our favorite shelter magazine. But what about the rest of your senses? Space is meant to be experienced, not just gazed at.

Of course visual aesthetics are very important. Your space should reflect a style that speaks to you. But its only one piece of the puzzle. The spaces we spend our time in should be comforting, nurturing and inspiring. They should encourage our growth while reminding us of our favorite memories. Our homes are where we go to rest and heal. They should help us to present our best selves to the world every day.

I believe the only way to achieve a well designed space is to approach it holistically. Much like doctors do when they take into account your lifestyle, prior medical history and state of mind before making a diagnosis or suggesting a treatment. They look at the entire picture, not just the symptoms.

What else is design but a method of alchemy, to transform the ordinary or the just plain unworkable, into something beautiful, something rare, something useable.

Our homes should feed our souls, help us to manifest our dreams, and construct the best version of ourselves.
